Very simple first step. Begin with a medium size circle, then draw the stick like stem or trunk guide like so.
2
Before doing anything else we will need to sketch out the trunk of the birch tree. Start at the bottom and form a rising root system. Next, continue up and draw the rest of the trunk and make sure that it forks off at the top. You will also add some
3
Sketch in the detailing to the trunk of the trees. The birch has loose bark that seems to peel the older the tree gets.
4
You will now begin sketching in all the leaves that will add texture and body to the shaggy tree top.

Description: Pretty soon these trees will be blooming left and right. Today I will be submitting two tree tutorials and this is one of them. Since this tree type is plentiful where I live, I thought why not make a lesson on "how to draw a birch tree", step by step. I know some of you think that drawing trees is majorly boring, but some people really do like these types of tutorials. If you love drawing landscape art or even scenery art I'm sure you have drawn lots and lots of trees. I love birch trees because they get so darn big and they are beautiful. There are all types of birch, but the most common ones we have are the extremely tall ones that have branches and leaves way at the top. Anyways, drawing a birch tree will come in useful one day, so don't get discouraged. I will be back with the other tree so we can move onto the last tuts for the night. When all is said and done, that will be a total of fourteen lessons that I submitted in one day. Good grief.
