How to Draw Turtles for Kids

Step 1.


Here is the first lesson and this is on a whole drawing sheet just on three different types of a turtles head and face. Sketch out three different shapes for the heads like you see here, or you can choose to do just one. Next, draw out the eyes, nose   

Step 2.


Here is a draw sheet of the turtle from the side. First draw out the outline of the head, and neck. Next, draw the rounded bowl like shell, then the legs and tail. When that is done you will only have to draw in the eye, mouth and nose, as well as th   

Step 3.


This is a front view of the turtle. Draw the head, then make the eyes. Draw out the shell, front legs, claws or toes, then the skin detailing as well as the shell detailing.

Step 4.


Here is another side view of turtle. Start with the shell. See how the spikes on the back look serrated. Make arches for where the legs will go.

Step 5.


Draw out the head and neck, then the tree trunk style legs, as well as the tail. Draw the toes then you are all done.

Step 6.


Draw out the eyeball, eyelid, and then draw the nose, mouth line, then the foot. Add more toes and add some patches on the legs.

Step 7.


Next and lastly, draw the turtle's shell design in a layered pattern. Erase the mistakes and you are all done.

Step 8.


Here is the line art when you are all done. Color in your turtle so you can complete the drawing.

Description: I haven't really done any tutorials based on for kids stuff. I thought I would at least upload two of them today because I know that there are folks on Dragoart that really enjoy them. Here is the first one, "how to draw turtles for kids", step by step. There is many different types of turtles in existence, but they all share one common ground. They have shelled backs, four legs, a tail, and they are very slow. Also, turtles are considered to be reptiles, and one of the closest living relatives to the dinosaur. In this tutorial you will get a full blown detailed lesson with different head shots, as well as body poses. I feel that even though this is a tut on drawing turtles for kids, it's actually a great lesson for other artists who are struggling with recreating these animals. Enjoy yourselves as you embark on a new drawing journey!
