How to Draw Kaoru Kamiya, Rurouni Kenshin

In this tutorial you will be drawing Kaoru from the manga Rurouni Kenshin. To begin, let us draw out a head guide as well as the lining for her neck and some of the torso. I decided that we will only tackle the upper portion of this manga character.

Using the facial guidelines you made in step one, you can start drawing the shapes of her wide eyes. The top lid lining should be bolder or thicker than the rest of her eye lining. Next, add some lashes, and then draw in her nose, mouth and eyebrows.

Description: Well, I guess the buck stop here because this is all I’m gonna have for you guys for a few hours. In light of the fact that Rurouni Kenshin is going to be made into a full length movie in both Japanese and English versions, I thought I might as well make a tutorial on one of the main characters from the very popular series and or manga/anime. Despite what some may think, this Rurouni Kenshin figure is not going to be that difficult to recreate. I will do my best to teach you guys "how to draw Kaoru Kamiya", step by step. She is like I said, the main character along with Kenshin. In the anime/manga she is the owner and instructor of a kendo school located in Tokyo Japan. Her dojo is terrorized by a person who is impersonating to be Hitokin Battōsai which is a lethal assassin that has murdered a numerous amount of people in the past. When her dojo comes under attack, she is saved by the real Battōsai which is Himura Kenshin. Once he saves her, Kaoru invites him to stay at her dojo to live since Kenshin is without a place to live. He then explains to her what his plan is, and after they talk for a while she realizes that she has developed a crush on him which then leads to Kaoru falling in love with Kenshin. Kaoru is the first main figure that Kenshin meets in the series. I know some of you that are unfamiliar with the manga are asking yourselves “what does she teach in the dojo?” Well, Kaoru teaches that art of Kamiya Kasshin-ryū which is a sword technique style that is only used to protect people without ever hurting them. What I like about the two characters together is that, even though Kaoru denies that she loves Kenshin, he too is drawn to her because of her simplistic, honest, and selfless nature. I’m not going to tell any of you what or how the story goes because I want you to find out for yourself if you are not familiar with Rurouni Kenshin.
