How to Draw Kamina, Gurren Lagann

Step 1.


Draw three shapes, a round head, a torso, and the hip shape. Connect the head to the torso with a neck line and then connect the torso to the hip shape. Sketch in some facial guides as well.

Step 2.


Sketch out the actual face structure of Kamina's face, and then begin drawing in the sharp pointed bang pieces. Sketch out the shaved look on the side of his head, and be sure to incorporate an ear.

Step 3.


Now you can start working on his face by drawing out the eye lids which should be thick and dark, and then draw the eyeballs. Add the brows, nose and mouth as well and be sure to give him a sly grin.

Step 4.


Finish drawing out his hairstyle which is long at first, but shortens out towards the back and right side. Add that part line as well for texture and detail.

Step 5.


Begin drawing the torso by first giving him a neck, shoulders, and arms. Sketch in the soft lines that will later form the chest and then draw in the collar bones.

Step 6.


Continue to draw out the arms and then draw the nipples for his chest. Sketch out his torso and waist and then draw out the top portion of his pants which appear to be very big but they will be held up with a belt.

Step 7.


Add the simple lining that that forms the waist of the pants and then move along to the next step again.

Step 8.


There is bandages around his waist and then draw out more of his pants. Sketch in the thick tied knot and draw some more of the pants.

Step 9.


As you can see you are almost done with this lesson. All you have to do here is draw out the rest of his legs, and then add some wrapped bandages around the forearm.

Step 10.


For the last drawing step all you have to do is draw out the tribal tattoo designs that start at the shoulder, and then work down the arm. Erase the lines and shapes that you drew in step one to clean him up a bit and that's it.

Step 11.


You are now ready to color him in and be sure to do a good job at it. Thats it guys, you just drew Kamina from Gurren Lagann and I hope you had fun.

Description: One of the more interesting characters from the anime series Gurren Lagann is Kamina. He is a character from a village called ‘Giha” which is located underground, and like a lot of dreamers or individuals that long for adventure or challenge, he wants so badly to leave his dwelling and see what the surface above has to offer. One of the things I like most about Kamina is his interesting tattoos on his shoulders and upper arms. They are what you call very cool tribal patterns that seem to be a bit trendy for an anime/manga figure. He is usually seen wearing no shirt, which is why his tattoos are exposed, and he also has matching blue colored hair to go with his deep blue colored tats. Oh, did I forget to tell you that you will be learning "how to draw Kamina", step by step? Well I guess I was too busy telling you how intriguing this character is even though he has a real cocky personality. I’m still very new to this series so bear with me if I miss some of the more important details. I would appreciate that you keep me in the dark a little so I am surprised with what I discover for myself. I will however provide you with this tutorial on drawing Kamina, and I think you will find that the coloring technique is awesome. Have fun guys and aidos!
