How To Draw Daisy Buchanan From The Great Gatsby

Step 1.

To draw Carrie Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan, we should first sketch in some basic construction lines. Use a 2H or hard pencil so that the lines are easy to erase when we ink later on. Sketch the basic shape of the head and upper torso. The head should

Step 2.

Let's draw the eyes first. Make sure that they line up perfectly on your horizontal construction line. They should be large and almond shaped. The pupil's need to be pointing in the exact same direction, in this case looking back over her shoulder. D

Step 3.

Next, draw the nose and mouth. Do not draw the bridge of the nose - omitting it will make the nose look more delicate and feminine. Mulligan has thin lips, but her lips should be parted just enough for us to see her upper teeth. It should look like s

Step 4.

Now draw the contours of her face as well as her ear. The ear should be petite and her face should be smooth and rounded with a small round chin.

Step 5.

Her hair should be short and combed flat against her head. The tips bangs should be swept to her right side. A large piece of hair should fall in front of her ear and loop upwards at the tip. This is part of the popular flapper girl look of the 1920s

Step 6.

Draw a headband wrapped around her head. Be sure that it curves with the shape of her head. It should be covered with diamonds. Draw a few strands of pearls dangling from it, along with jeweled olive branches pointing upwards.

Step 7.

Next, draw her slender neck. The back of the neck should begin near her earlobe. The front of the neck should begin just behind her chin.

Step 8.

Before drawing her dress, we should first draw her right shoulder. It should be smooth and thin. Be sure to use your construction lines as a guide.

Step 9.

Draw the shape of her dress, which is sleeveless. This part of the dress is plain and lacks detail.

Step 10.

The second step in drawing the dress is covering it with pieces of polished crystal or jewels. They are beaded together, the pattern being similar to that of a fishing net. Large pieces are connected together by smaller pieces.

Step 11.

Now that we are done penciling the image, we can ink it using a Micron marker or a brush and India ink. A brush works wonderfully when inking hair. Carefully go over each line with patience and be sure not to accidentally ink any unneeded guide lines

Step 12.

You can add more depth to the image by giving it shadow. Establish your light source and use black ink or a fat tipped black marker to do your shading. Do not over-shade the figure, or it will diminish her delicate features. Some shadow beneath her h

Step 13.

If you need to make any corrections, use white ink or opaque white paint. You can also use it to add highlights if needed. And that's how you draw Carrie Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan from The Great Gatsby! Beautiful work!!
