Start out by picking your pencils. I used a 4H pencil for sketching/light shading, an HB pencil for general shading, and a 3B pencil for dark shading.

Start defining the sketch by starting at the eyes and expanding outwards. I used a 4H pencil for all of the sketching so far. Pay attention to line direction.

Step 11.
Use a paper towel or a blending stump to smooth out your shading. If your shading doesn't look smooth the first time around sketch over it again and smooth it out. Repeat until you are satisfied.

Now it's time to start adding final layers. Work in the same order as you did with the sketch. Start by roughly and lightly shading with a 3B pencil.

Step 13.
Develop your shading using HB and 3B pencils on the eyes and HB and 4H on the fur. It is very important that your lines follow the direction that the fur flows. Try not to just scribble your fur in.

Description:
I was surprised to find that I didn't have a single fox tutorial out and about so I decided to create this one for you all. I would like to have as many fox tutorials as wolf tutorials in the long run but for now let's learn how to draw a swift fox portrait!
