How to Draw a Cartoon Lion

Step 1.


The first thing you want to do when it comes to drawing a cartoon lion is making some basic shapes and lines to form a frame for your animal. This cartoon lion needs a few circles for the head and mane alone so that is what you will draw out now. Nex   

Step 2.


All you have to do in step two is draw the eye shapes, the eyebrows, the cartoon lion ears, and then the cartoon lions nose and mouth as you see here.

Step 3.


Start sketching in some fuzz for around the face which will later be the cartoon lions mane. Give this animal some eyeballs and color in the pupils. Draw whiskers and then a set of exposed teeth. Sketch out the lower jaw and detail inside of the ears   

Step 4.


You will now start sketching out the shape and style of the cartoon lions mane as you see here. The edges are rounded and soft instead of sharp and pointed.

Step 5.


You will then start drawing out the cartoon lions front legs and paws and be sure to draw some hair on the back of the elbows as well. The last thing you will do is draw the under chest line and some of the belly line.

Step 6.


Start drawing out the cartoon lions hind legs and then the back paws. When this is done you can move to the next step.

Step 7.


To finish off your cartoon lion all you have to do is draw the lining for the back and then the tail. On the tip of the tail is some hair so you will have to sketch that in as well. Finish the hind legs and then start erasing the guidelines and shape   

Step 8.

I know before I started getting into dinosaurs and dragons, I always wanted to be a lion because they were these fierce ferocious beast that are the kings of their plains. I wanted to do a tutorial on this very animal and I wanted it to be easy to draw. So what I will do is show you “how to draw a cartoon lion”, step by step. A cartoon lion is seen everywhere. In movies like “The Lion King”, in cartoon television shows made by Warner Bros, and they are even used for clothes, hats, toys and accessories. The cartoon lion that you will be learning how to draw is brown in color with a dark brown mane. The eyes are friendly and the smile is cunning. You can see from the cartoon lions face that he is a bit of a trouble maker and I'm glad that came across in my drawing. I love the way the animal came out and I think you guys will like it too. Drawing lions is so much fun, but it’s even more fun when the tutorial you are learning from is easy to follow.
