How to Draw a Caricature
1
The red circles are just pointing out the parts of the face that we will focus on. The thick eyebrows, the nose, and the teeth. Take characteristics of a persons face that is most dominate and exaggerate them in the drawing.
2
The circle in blue is what we will pay little attention to. The eyes, and no lip are the minor but important parts of the face that also needs to be addressed.
3
Here is just some examples on a few caricature faces that I drew. All but one are random faces and if you notice Justin Bieber is to your left. Examples of eyes and eyebrows are also included.
4
Make a large oval shape for the elongated head, and then draw in the face guides like you see here.
5
Using the facial guidelines you drew in step one, start sketching out the lining for the eyes and nose. Since the nose is going to be over exaggerated, be sure to draw the tip long and wide.
6
Just above the top eye lid line, draw out the blocky brows and color them in solid. When that's done you can finish the eyes by drawing the bottom lid, and drawing out the eyeball. Draw the nostrils and be sure to draw them in a flaring manner.
7
Add some detailing to the eyes by sketching out the actual crease for the lid, then color in the pupils and in this case my brother has a beauty mark on his cheek so draw in the mark like so.
8
We will now start working on the lower portion of the face. Draw out the defined frown lines that start at the base of the nostrils, and then swirl those lines outward. Draw in his mouth which should also be wide and over sized. The top lip is very t
9
Sketch out the ears like so, but make sure when you draw them out add detailing inside of the ears. So far you guys are doing great, just keep it up because you're almost done.
10
Sketch out the shape of the face and head like so, and if you notice the face is stretched out or in an oblong structure. Draw the hair line for his shaved head, and then add some definition to the cheeks.
11
For the last drawing step all you have to do is draw out the chin hair, and then draw out the neck, shirt collar, and some of the upper part of his chest. Erase the lines and shapes that you drew in step one to clean up the drawing.

Description: I have such an awesome tutorial day for all you Dragoart members and visitors. I have several cool lessons to upload but I don’t know where to start first. I guess I can start with "how to draw a caricature", step by step. The reason why I love this lesson is because I made a caricature face of my sixteen year old brother. Everyone in my house loved the drawing and they said it looked just like him. We had so much fun and he was a really good sport letting me twist his face into a goofy looking kid. Normally my brother is goofy anyway but that’s just because he’s the comic of the family. In the lesson I give you some pointers as to how to draw a caricature face, and if you try and understand the concepts of making a normal looking face into a cartoony exaggerated creation, you can turn anyone you know into another person completely. Even if they always look series you can add expression other than how they normally look just by twisting their features into bigger or smaller parts of the face. For my brother’s face I focused on his thick eyebrows, nose, and mouth or teeth. The end result is a perfect example on how he acts every day. There is also a quick sketch of other caricature faces and if you look real close, you will see J.B. Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy this tutorial as much as I did making it. Once you get the hang of making caricatures, you will have a blast drawing all of your family members and friends. Thanks guys and stay tuned in because there is a whole lot more on the way!
