Symbolic Drawing Lesson

1

Begin by sketching out the guidelines which should consist of a head/face guide, neck and shoulder guides as well.

2

Using the guides you just made, sketch out the actual structure of the girl's face. Be sure to define the chin area and create an earlobe.

3

We will use the facial guidelines to sketch out the shapes of the eyes. These eyes will remain voided out, so there is no need to draw the pupils or iris'. Once the lashes, lids and eyebrows are sketched in, you can draw the shape of the nose, lips a

4

Okay, you can do two things. You can draw the lining as solid lines when drawing the hair and then adding the crown of thorns, or you can draw the hair with placement gaps to help guide how you will draw the placement of the crown.

5

Whatever step you made for the hair, it's time to now draw the four layered thorn crown. Be sure to draw the vine using uneven line strokes.

6

We will now draw the lining for the neck, then draw in the shoulders, arms and some of her chest.

7

Lastly, draw the rose and all the fallen rose petals that follow. Erase the mistakes, as well as the guides then you're done.

8

Here is the line art. All that is left to do is add color to the art. Be sure to upload your finished drawing when done.

Description: When it comes to making tuts in a creative manner, I sometimes go overboard and let the music do the drawing for me. This lesson is a product of exactly that. A few days ago I was listing to some spiritual music and as I was drawing I sort of just got lost in the sound. There were no words to the song really, only instruments working together to create melodies that totally submerge the mind into a crippled, lucid state. All your senses are still active, but the difference is, my mind was in a whole new dimension. I do hope you enjoy this lesson. I really loved the outcome. I will be back with more tutorials for you all.
