How to Sketch Feet

There are many ways to "draw feet", but it's important to evaluate them by understanding the basic shapes that creates a real foot. See how they are made of pointed shapes?

This is a sketch of a toe, (obviously) and the foot combined. The diagram that I am presenting to you now is how the toe should be longer the the shape of the foot itself. The toe along with the middle toe are usually the longest from all the toes. T

These are just some random feet that I sketched out to show you all the many poses of feet positions. As you can see there are many foot shapes, sizes, and poses that you can make a foot in.

When a foot is in a bending or twisted position, it's best to draw the creases to show that there's skin colliding with the movement of the foot. Remember to add creases wherever there's activity of bending and or twisting.

When you are sketching out under the foot, you should see the cushioned part of flesh that bulges outwards into the middle core.

You will be drawing the feet in the main thumbnail so be warned that you might experience some difficulty. Start by making two lines that will later be for the lower portion of the legs. At the ends of those guidelines draw the two shapes of the feet

Slowly start sketching out the inner part of the lower legs as shown, and then slightly sketch out the arched part of the foot which is exposed from the type of pose the feet are in. At the same time, you will need to sketch in the big toe, and then

Continue to sketch out the left leg and be sure to include the calf as well. Once that is done you will need to sketch out the foot's heel, as well as the side of the sketched foot. Incorporate the same lining until you have the toes drawn in like yo

For the last drawing step, all you have to do is sketch in the toe nails, and then add some of the toe detailing that is on each foot or set of toes. Erase the lines and shapes that you drew in step one to clean up the drawing.

Description: There is a certain part of the human body that is a troubling aspect for any artist to start drawing or even sketch. That is why I wanted to make a lesson that can teach any struggling artist "how to sketch feet", step by step. Sketching feet is something that I myself have had problems with in the past. Even now, there is still areas of drawing feet that gets me frustrated to a point where I just want to give up. After trying, and trying I can honestly say I feel comfortable enough to teach other fellow artist how to draw feet in a sketched tutorial. This lesson is filled with tips, tricks, and even helpful diagrams to help make sketching human feet easier than ever before. I know this may not be the best tutorial ever, but at least it will shed some light on a problem area that I know is hard to deal with. Just think, once you're done following this lesson, you will be able to make feet a whole lot better than before. It doesn't matter if you want to draw anime feet, realistic feet, or even the foot of a child, one thing is absolutely certain, you will definitely benefit from learning "how to sketch feet".
