How to Draw Sil from Species

Step 1.


You will begin with the first step which is where you will sketch out the shape of the head guide, then the torso guide. Sketch in the facial guidelines then add a limb or arm guide.

Step 2.


Using the head guide you just made, begin sketching out the structure for Sil's face. As you can see she has a very defined face with contouring and texture.

Step 3.


Now that the facial structure is sketched out, you can then begin drawing the face in. As you know Sil has a very defined face. Her brows are thick which makes her eyes appear sunken in. Sketch out the lining for her brows, then draw the large outlin   

Step 4.


Fill in the shapes by sketching out the rest of her eyes. They seem to be reptilian in appearance so they need slits for pupils. Add the nose which is very small or petite. Next, define the jaw line or the sides of her face with facial definition whi   

Step 5.


Now you can draw in Sil's mouth. This shouldn't be too complicated. The lips should be sort of thick but well formed. Add some teeth that are exposed with her facial expression.

Step 6.


Next, we will work on the alien style hairdo. It's almost like drawing cornrows just in a stiffer manner. The lining should be wavy and deep. Add the small circular shape on her forehead as well.

Step 7.


There are horn like strands that hang where the ears would be. These horns are long and curl back like you see here.

Step 8.


Simply detail the horns you just drew by adding horizontal lines or stripes.

Step 9.


Now that the face and head are done. You can begin sketching out Sil's body. Start with the shoulders, and some of the upper arm. When that is done work on the chest which is the nicely shaped breasts. I had to leave some detailing out because it was   

Step 10.


Continue to work on Sil's body. Start by completing the shape of her arm. As you can see her arm stretches down towards the ground as she is in a defensive stance. Once that is done sketch out the rest of her body and this includes the torso, thighs    

Step 11.


Before the much more complicated steps come you will need to draw in the sharp shards or spikes that flow down alien Sil's back. They vary in size and thickness.

Step 12.


Here is where you will probably spend most of your time because you need to slowly sketch in all the texture lining that will not only add detailing to your drawing of Sil, but it will also bring the character to life as she looks in the film.

Step 13.


And lastly, draw the arm that is not so exposed to the right. Erase your mistakes and guides.

Step 14.

Description: It's really strange to me how I never thought to make a lesson on this alien species who is from a movie that I love very much. She is one of the coolest female aliens I have ever seen, and today you will get a lesson on "how to draw Sil from Species", step by step. Now the film Species is considered to be a cult classic along with the Alien series. It's a story that follows an alien life form that fused with human DNA. The end results from the fusion formed into a very innocent female named Sil. She started out as a baby, then three months later turned into a 12 year old girl. After that she escaped and then morphed into a young, beautiful woman played by Natasha Henstridge. I do like the second Species film as well, it was very good, almost as good as the first.
