Next, we will shift over to drawing the inner details of the mask like the air holes at either sides of the face as well as the guarded mouth piece.

Then, time to sketch his forehead and the hairline receding at the sides. Make sure you draw the hair scattered in some parts to keep the essence of his eerie and mysterious look. It also makes him look crazy.

Description: “A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti“. For those of you that read my posts on Facebook you should already now that I love the movie Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal Lector all together. I was so artistically inspired to do some cool tutorials yesterday, so I went ahead and made a lesson on how to draw Hannibal, step by step. I mean how you could not be inspired to draw the famous Hannibal Lecter with his popular face mask which is used to protect people from his dangerous bite. As you know Hannibal is the main figure that helped Clarice Starling find Buffalo Bill, the guy that was kidnapping young girls and cutting up their bodies to make a suit made out of female skin. Anthony Hopkins is the one who plays Hannibal, and I’m sure that you know what his nickname is, ‘Hannibal the cannibal’. The reason why he is locked up in an isolated psych ward is because he was a brilliant psychiatrist who turned into a ‘cannibalistic serial killer’. At first I always thought that Silence of the Lambs was the first part to the book series written by Thomas Harris. I soon found out after watching the movie the other night, that Red Dragon is the first of a series of novels and movies that revolves around a handful of people including Hannibal. I guess Red Dragon is about how Hannibal Lecter was caught and prosecuted once a detective named Will Graham that put the pieces to the puzzle together. Following Red Dragon is the book and movie that probably made Hannibal and Clarice part of the pop culture world is ‘Silence of the Lambs’. I for one love the movie and I also love how even though Clarice knows that Hannibal is a monster, she still has these deep feelings for him. I don’t know if it’s love or respect. Anyways, I had so much fun creating this epic tutorial on drawing Hannibal Lecter himself. I hope you too have fun as you enjoy the task of something definitely new and challenging. Peace out people and be sure not to be shy, leave a comment, rate or fav.
