Let's begin by making a round shape for his head, and then add the facial guidelines, as well as a neck line.

2

Begin sketching out the shape of his face structure like you see here. This is a sketch of Billie Joe from a 3/4 view. Once the shape is drawn, add the eye lines and then the nose.

3

Continue to sketch out his eyes, and then sketch out more of his nose adding a bit of shading inside of the nostrils. Next, draw the outline of his mouth and or lips.

4

As you know Billie Joe has wacky and wild hair. Sketch out his messy looking hairstyle, and then sketch in his eyebrows. When that is done you have to draw the right ear, and then finish drawing his eyes, and mouth like you see here.

5

Before you start to add the shading, draw the shape of his neck, and then draw the shirt collar. Once that is done you can start erasing all the guidelines and shapes you drew in step one so you can start shading in your Green Day singer's face on th

All you need to do now to finish off the sketch is color in his dark hair, and then shade in his neck, and shirt collar the way you see it done for you here.

I forgot to mention to add his freckles or beauty marks on his face too. But when you are done, this is what your drawing should come out looking like. Hope you had fun drawing Billie Joe Armstrong

Description: After I did the lesson on Amy Lee, I received many requests in both my e-mails and my comments to do another famous singer, songwriter that we love to listen to these days. Today I will be showing you “how to draw Billie Joe Armstrong”, step by step. He was born on February 17, 1972, which would make Billie Joe around thirty eight years old. This performer is from the band Green Day, and believe it or not but, he has been singing in his three man band since 1989. He is the youngest out of six children born to Andrew Armstrong, and Ollie Jackson. His father used to be a jazz musician, and truck driver when Billie was growing up. He was very close with his dad, which is why he wrote the song “Wake Me Up When September Ends”. This was a tribute to his father who died of cancer on September 10, 1981. His father passed when Billie was just ten years old. A lot of Green Day's music is derived from Billie's childhood, and from the world round him. It all started back in 1987 when he started a band called “Sweet Children”. It was Billie and Mike Dirnt who was the bands two guitarist, they had John Kiffmeyer on drums, and Sean Hughs on bass. After a short while their bassist left the band and it was up to Dirnt to start learning how to play a bass. Once they had their stuff together, it was a three man band ever since. They renamed themselves Green Day for two reasons, the first reason is because they loved pot, and the second reason why they changed their name to Green Day, is because one of their teachers from school used to tell them that there will be a green day in hell before they will do something with their lives. Coming from a teacher must have been pretty harsh, but it also must have been pretty inspiring too. While they where still in high school they recorded a few EP's such as 39/Smooth, 1,000 Hours, and Slappy. The three EP's where conbined into one LP labeled “1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours”. In the year 1990, John left the band, and they replaced their old drummer with Tre Cool. It wasn't until Green Day's next album came out, that the band made an impression on listeners ears around the world. A new punk rock band was now, one of the most popular bands of the nineties. Their success still follows them around today, and because their music is so original, Green Day has already sold over sixty million records around the world. I think that this lesson on “how to draw Billie Joe Armstrong” will be a blast because I know for a fact that there is a lot of Green Day fans out there. I hope you enjoy this lesson, don't forget to rate and comment too. I will be back later with more drawing fun so stay tuned in everybody!
