How to Draw an Anime Kid

Step 1.


Before we begin this tutorial I want to quickly show you the three different stages of an aging girls face. The top drawing is of a child between the ages of two and five years old. Realize that the eyes are exaggerated and much closer to the face. T   

Step 2.


This step just show two anime kids of the same age which is anywhere between ten to fifteen years old. To create a male anime kid, darken the brows. Leave out lashes and add in darker eyelids. It will be easier to notice that your child is male if th   

Step 3.


1) The closer the eyes are to the face, the younger the kid will appear. Expanding the size of the eyes will also trigger a more younger looking child, almost chibi/baby like. 2) The nose is less detailed and defined on an anime kid. Use two dots or    

Step 4.


Now lets start the lesson. Begin by making a head shape which is in the form of a circle, and then draw out the guidelines for the face, neck, torso, arms, and legs. Of course there is the pelvic or shape for the hips that needs to be drawn in as wel   

Step 5.


Now all you do here is sketch out the lower half of the females face which is the cheeks and jawline. Next, draw the beginning lines for her eye like so.

Step 6.


Finish drawing out her eyes, and then sketch out the ears too. When that is done don't forget the eyebrows and some of the mouth.

Step 7.


Okay, now it's time to sketch out the hairstyle which is shoulder length, and straight. She also has bangs and I drew her with bangs because it gives her face a sense of innocence and adolescence.

Step 8.


Now you can start drawing out the torso in the form of a tee shirt and be sure to add the sleeves and the shirt collar lining like you see here. Notice how the shirt is a little buckled at the bottom? This is because it's folded in the pants.

Step 9.


Now draw out the arms and then her hands. Notice how the hands are lifted in an upward position, this is to give her a playful pose.

Step 10.


Okay now you can start drawing out her cute, short ruffled skirt like you see here. Again, the skirt is drawn to be blowing in the breeze as she is a state being happy and playful.

Step 11.


Now you can start drawing out the legs and here you can see how her left leg is bent up or folded. Don't forget to draw out her foot as well.

Step 12.


For the last drawing step, all you have to do is draw in the shoe straps like so, and then draw in some small detailing lines. Erase the lines and shapes that you drew in step one top clean up the drawing at hand.

Step 13.


Here is how your cute little girl looks when you are all done. Now color her in to complete the drawing. Thanks for joining me for this lesson on how to draw an anime kid.

Description: Even though I already submitted a drawing video on "how to draw an anime kid", step by step I still wanted to upload this lesson because it includes some helpful tips and tricks. Most of you found the tutorial to be helpful when I was drawing it live on video, but sometimes it’s hard for someone to follow drawing videos because the steps are not steady or static. I know if I was a novice or even a beginning intermediate artist, I would prefer to learn from a step by step lesson that is laid out before my eyes. This way here I can take my time as I look at each step, and the best part is drawing is done at my own pace.
