How to Draw a Red Panda
1
Start out with a basic sketch of the panda. You can use the guidelines if you need them. I drew this on Strathmore drawing paper. I used an HB pencil for sketching, a 2H pencil for light shading, and B/3B pencils for dark shading.
3
I found it easiest to work on this guy from top to bottom/head to tail. Define the lines of the head more. Keep your lines light but confident.
4
Roughly shade over the dark fur of the head using an HB pencil. you can also work a bit on the background as well.
5
Start detailing the head from top to bottom. I used a B pencil for the dark shading here. I found that my 2H pencil worked very well for adding the lighter fur.
7
Finish up the head details. You can come back to this area later to fix any mistakes that you have made.
8
Now prepare the rest of the drawing for shading and details by defining the remaining outlines a bit more. Also, sketch out the sectioning and fur direction for the tail.
9
Now roughly shade over the rest of the body with an HB pencil again. You can use a blending stump or cloth to smooth out your first layer of shading.
10
Shade in the red panda's torso. In order to get my shading that dark I had to first add a smooth layer with a B pencil and then go over that with a 3B pencil.
