The black dragon often eats smaller animals that are scattered around the forbidden forest, and sometimes they will dive into the deep lakes that are surrounded by trees, they do this because they need certain nutrients that only fish can provide. Like oils for their tough skin and fish also carry a chemical that helps rejuvenate the scales that cover the black dragon. Black dragons are usually shy, so this means getting to close to this beast might make him/her attack to defend itself from others. The only way to tame this creature is to raise them while they are still very young. Since these dragons are incapable of laying eggs, when they drop from the thunderous clouds they are still infants, which means they have to fend for themselves in order to stay alive. This explains why these animals are so timid when it comes to being around other dragons. You have to understand that because the black dragon grows up alone, they really have no sense of control when confronted by other black dragons. Since they grew up defensive, they live defensive. It is also said that when a black dragon dies the skies turn black and the clouds cover the entire earth with a thick mass as it thunders and pours. This type of weather will usually last for up to three months without a ray of sun to be found. After the storm passes a new life begins. Black dragons have a life span of only 10 years because they are fairly big beasts. The males can weigh up to 2,000 pounds and the females get as big as 1,200 pounds.
