Drawing Crimson and Clovers

Step 1.


Start with some simple guide shapes for the head and torso. Connect some limb guidelines as well for the arm and back line.

Step 2.


This is a profile view of the girl in this lesson. So go ahead and draw the profile of her face starting with the forehead and nose. Move to the mouth or lips, then chin and jawline. Don't forget to incorporate the ear shape and hair line.

Step 3.


You can add detailing inside the ear and then proceed to draw in her hairstyle or at least some of it. The hair should be straight and long. Add the face next with the eyebrow and eye. Detail the face by sketching in the nostril, cheek line and lip l   

Step 4.


Add a crown of flowers on top of her head and then draw in the hair strand lines to add texture and definition to her hair. Add the front part of the neck line too.

Step 5.


The face, head and hair are all drawn in. We can focus now on the upper body or torso. Start with the tee shirt which as you can see she is wearing a short sleeve tee. Add the creases and folds to the shirt.

Step 6.


Draw in the arms along with the one head that is resting on the upper part of her left or right arm. I drew in some bracelets on her wrist.

Step 7.


Finish up the drawing by sketching out the legs which are covered by bell bottom style jeans. She is also wearing a funky leather belt. Add detailing to the pants, then erase the mistakes and guides.

Step 8.


Here is the finished drawing when you are all done. Now all you have to do is color her in. Maybe dress up the background with a sea full of crimson colored clovers growing in a field.

Description: I have been listening to a lot of music from back in the 60's, 70's and 80's. I have to tell you, the sixties if full of so much awesome music with a lot of passion, inspiration and life. One of my favorite songs (which seems to have been remade multiple times) is 'Crimson and Clover' originally written by 'Tommy James and the Shondells'. It has been remade by Joan Jett, Cher, Dolly Parton, and a handful of others. I like the passion and lyrics, and then I love how the songs goes into a playful melody as it speeds up and fills the listener with energy. The song then slows down into a mild tempo in attempts to make the listener get back to reminiscing. Anyways, here is what I think of when I listen to Crimson and Clover usually the version by Joan Jett
