How to Draw Turtle Doves
1
Like we always do, start with the guides and shapes for the two turtle doves you will be drawing. Make the heads and bodies almost exact. Add the wing guidelines too.
3
Up next, we can start drawing the second turtle dove the very same way we did the first. Start with the head and then proceed with the body and tail. The lining is smooth with no feathery ruffles.
4
The wings for both birds will be drawn in next. This time there are feathery layered ruffles along the edge of the wings. When the wings are done you can draw the turtle dove's eyes and beak lining.
5
Lastly, add the arch for the wings which will add definition, then detail the insides with smaller feathers. Erase the mistakes and all the guides as well.

Description: I'm sure everyone is familiar with the age old holiday song that counts down the days till Christmas called 'The Twelve Days of Christmas'. For the most part I think I know the lyrics to the carol, but there are some parts that I don't know. What I do know is the verse that names the first five days which consists of a partridge in a pear tree, two turtle doves, three french hens, four calling birds and "FIVE GOLD RINGS". Well, in light of the upcoming holiday, I wanted to do something festive so here is how to draw two turtle doves, step by step. These doves are actually very pretty and have a tanish tint their feathers. I love the markings behind the necks and then colored edges along the wings and tail ends. Oddly, I really enjoyed drawing these turtle doves, but when I was done I was stumped on what type of background to give the concept. After careful thought I felt the glow of a moon with pine trees and falling snow would best suit the mood for this Christmas themed tut. I do hope you enjoy this turtle doves. You can actually create a background that fits the song if you like. Anyways, enjoy and meet me back here in a few with other tuts for you all to enjoy and learn from.
