How to Draw Ash From Evil Dead, Evil Dead

Step 1.


First, start with the basic guidelines. This will help you proportion how the facials should be drawn evenly. Make sure you draw these lines lightly and try to draw them closely to the image as possible.

Step 2.


Next, draw the face shape, and the hairline. It's important you start with the face because it's the most vital part of the drawing. Without having the face drawn in a proportional way, the whole drawing will fall apart. Try to spend your time wisely   

Step 3.


Then, let's draw the facials. Since we already have the face shape drawn, you'll be able to sketch the facial features accurately. Ash's brows are very close to lids of his eyes, causing a dark cast shadow beneath the sockets of the eyes. This part a   

Step 4.


Next, work on the nose first and then the mouth. His mouth should be slightly widened, but not too wide at the edges. The upper lip should be cuffed inwards to add that gap feeling between his nose and mouth. Don't forget the scars!

Step 5.


Then, work on the ear definition. Use thin lines for the ear, restrain from using thick lines.

Step 6.


Next, sketch the hair for Ash. In this version, I took reference after the scene where he came out of the sewer with the chainsaw arm and 'Boomstick' phrase. So to complete this look, draw his hair in scruffy strands.

Step 7.


Let's then work on the collar and neck for Ash. Take your time with this part, Ash was muscularly fit in the movie, so it's important to draw him a nice shapely neck.

Step 8.


Next, work on the shoulders before you tackle the arm. It's important to draw lots of wrinkles in the clothing as his arm is raised upwards causing friction between the joints. Take your time, and if you need to, reference!

Step 9.


Lastly, finish the drawing by sketching the chainsaw.

Step 10.


Once you're finished drawing, go ahead and proof your sketch before you jump into inking or intense graphite shading. I hope you guys enjoyed this lesson, stay tuned for more!

Description: "Come get some!" Evil Dead has always been part of my childhood sine age 10. This was drawn during one of my livestream broadcasts last Friday. In this sweet comic styled tutorial, I will be showing you easy step by step instructions on 'how to draw Ash Williams From Evil Dead'. The total time spent on this was around two hours, having the coloring and background work consuming most of the efforts. I'm sure you guys will enjoy this one, especially those of you who enjoy the cult horror genre. If you’re a fan of Evil Dead movies, then you must have watched most of Sam Rami’s films. In order to replicate a comic book style, you must use varied line weights that make the drawing pop. Adding depth and contrast within your line art will improve your drawings substantially. I myself have not yet achieved that ‘true’ comic book look, with the heavy black lines for shading. Anyways, I hope you guys will enjoy this lesson as much as I had creating it.
