How to Draw a Wild Dog, African Wild Dog
1
Begin your first step by drawing out a head shape for your dog, and then a body shape. Connect the two with a neck line and then sketch in the facial guides.
2
Using the head shape you just drew in step one, begin sketching out the shape of the wild dog's face and head structure. Draw in the large ears like so, and add some detailing to the snout.
3
Using the facial guidelines begin drawing out the eyes, color in some pupils, and then draw the nose tip. Add some wrinkles on the snout, as well as inside of the ears.
4
In this step you will start sketching out the chest of the dog and then work your way down the body to form the front legs and paws. Don't forget to draw in some elbow fuzz to before leaving this step.
5
Continue to draw out the body as you work your way down the back, and back-end. Sketch in the hind leg, and then draw the stomach. Next draw in the hind leg as well as the back paw. Don't forget to sketch in that long tail.
6
For the next step you will draw the other inner back leg and paw, and then sketch in some chest fuzz as well as some body detailing. Clean up the drawing so you can prepare your wild dog for color.

Description: I have been raking my brain trying to think of a new animal species to add to the animals category that I haven’t done before. After I searched and searched I finally found a species that I have never done, and it happens to be an animal that belongs to the canine family. Today, I will show you guys "how to draw a wild dog", step by step. If you’re thinking that wild dogs aren’t real, think again. They are actually called African wild dogs, and they are also known or called painted dogs and hunting dog. These dogs can be found in the woodlands and sub-Saharan parts of Africa. They are strange looking animals because of their markings, color, and body. One of the more predominate things that stand out with the wild dog is their enormous ears and long skinny limbs. Unlike other canines the African wild dog only have four toes on each foot. It’s hard to say what the base colors of their hides are, but if you ask me, I would say white. They have shaggy coats that have a variety of colors in the form of patches and no two dogs have the same pattern. Besides from having a predominantly black snout, their coats have a mixture of black, white, brown, tan, red, and yellow. Their ears are big and round, and if you could compare these dogs to another familiar animal species it would have to be the wolf. Like wolves wild dogs thrive in packs. The pack is usually run or controlled by a pair of dogs that are monogamous to one another. A female wild dog can have anywhere between two, to twenty pups, and their pack size consists of six to twenty dogs per pack. The drawing I did for you all resemble the wild dog, but you can clearly see that I was trying to go for my own style and technique with the coloring pattern. I didn’t include white in the color scheme because I wanted the dog to have a different tone. Anyways, no matter how you follow and color in your finished drawing, I’m sure you will enjoy drawing a wild dog from the African plains. I will be back tomorrow with some more drawing fun so come back around, or stick around to try out some lessons you haven’t tried before. Peace out people and enjoy.
