How to Draw a Native

Step 1.


Make two shapes, one for the head and the other for her torso. Sketch in the facial guidelines then move to add the neck and lower body line.

Step 2.


You will now sketch out the shape of her face, then draw in the top portion of the hairstyle which will also be the shape of her head. Add uneven cut bangs, and two sides of her hair that go past the shape of her face. These chunks will be banded in    

Step 3.


Add detailing to her hair, then sketch out the shapes of her pretty eyes. Make sure the upper lids are thick and dark. Draw the eyebrows, then sketch in the marks on her cheeks. Draw the nose and mouth then proceed to step four.

Step 4.


We will get started with drawing out the shape of this native's neck, then draw the bands on her hair which forms each ponytail. Draw the thick necklace around her neck and add detailing to the necklace as well.

Step 5.


You will draw the shape of her torso which is in a very upright pose. Her posture is almost perfect. Draw in the breasts or chest, then sketch in the fringe that lines the top portion of her leather or animal hide dress.

Step 6.


All you will do here is sketch out the long straight ponytails, then sketch in the detailing to her hair for added texture. You will make some of the hair pieces pull away from one another to make that flow effect.

Step 7.


This is your last drawing step. All you need to do here is draw out the rest of her body. Sketch out the arms, and the rest of the body which is nice and slender. Add detailing to her dress and arms, then you can erase the mistakes that you made alon   

Step 8.


Here is the line art once you are all done. Now go ahead and color her in to really make this native come to life. I hope you enjoyed this lesson and I'm sure you did a great job.

Description: Thanksgiving in the United States is only seven days away and because of this I wanted to make a lesson on something that relates to the feast of a holiday. Since Snoopy was a pilgrim, I thought an awesome lesson on "how to draw a native", step by step anime style would be something that people would want to draw instead of your typical cartoon style Indian girl. I wanted to make things exciting and draw a Pocahontas like anime figure that has some of the characteristics of the original Pocahontas like her turquoises necklace, long hair and tattoo on her arm. I really, really love the way she came out and I am officially stating that this anime girl is one of my recent favorite drawings I have done in a while. The coloring, face image, body language, everything about this drawing is awesome in my eyes. Have fun with this tut folks and don't hesitate to let me know what you think of this native as well.
