How to Draw a Hula Girl

Since we are drawing a figure, you will need to make the head and torso guides. Add facial guidelines and then the limb lines followed by the hand guides.

Sketch out the shape of the Hula girl's face, then draw in the bangs. Add the outline for her ear too.

Here is a close up for drawing the Hula girl's face. Start with the eye lids and make sure they curl up at the ends. When that is done draw some of the bottom lids, and when you do so add lashes.

Staying with the close up of drawing her face you will draw and color in the eyebrows then draw the eyeballs. You will add the crease line on the eyelid. When the eyes are done draw the nose.

Up next, draw the outlined shape of her mouth like so, then form the lips by drawing the hole inside the mouth.

Okay, the Hula girl's face is all done. Now we can draw in the rest of her head shape/hair. Since she has long straight hair, you will draw the curl that swings to the front of her body as it hits the shoulder. Draw the flower tiara on top of her hea

Sketch out the shape of the neck, then draw the kinky flower necklace around the base of her neck which is another form of lei.

We will draw the chest next and when you do this make the breasts first, then cover them with her strapless top. Add the creases and folds to texturize the top, then add her cleavage.

We will now tackle the upper body some more by drawing the shoulders, arms and dimpling where her elbows are.

Draw the shape of her body which should be a nice hourglass shape. The flare that you have to add is going to be for her grass skirt.

Here are the close up steps for drawing the hands. Start by making a circle for the palm of her hand, then add the finger guides. When that is done you can start by drawing the thumb or at least a portion of it.

Continue to draw the thumb, then draw in the palm of her hand all the way to the other side where the pinkie will be placed. Next and lastly for this hand drawing step, draw in the index finger, then proceed t o step thirteen.

Continue on to draw the middle finger, then draw the ring finger.

Draw in both pinkies, then draw the ruffled ring of flowers around the right wrist.

You can now draw in the rest of her hairstyle which is long, wavy and full of body. Add notches at the ends of her hair too.

For the last drawing step all you have to do is draw out the grass skirt like so and make sure that every piece of grass is its own strand. Add the belly button and definition on her stomach to make it look toned. Erase the mistakes and you are done.

Description: So I can't believe that I never did a lesson on a Hawaiian beauty that are responsible for all the leis that people receive when they come off the plane in Hawaii. Today I will show you "how to draw a hula girl", step by step. The hula girl in this tutorial is not your traditional looking Hawaiian. Instead of a black haired beauty, I chose to go with a gal that has long, straight hair and a very american looking face. Although, girls of all types of ethnicity live in Hawaii but I don't know how many of them are actual hula dancers. There is an actual art to hula dancing and I'm sure I'm not even close to knowing how that art is performed. All I know how to do is teach you the task of drawing a hula girl. There is tips included as well as detailed steps for her face and hands. I know how difficult drawing hands can be so I hope the steps for her hands helps out. Adios people and aloha.
