How to Draw Zhao Yun, Dynasty Warriors

First things first, we're going to start off with a base that we can work off of. We're just drawing the chest up in this picture so all we'll need is an oval for his head, a line coming down for the neck, a line across for his shoulders and another

From there we'll start by drawing in the shape of his face a a bit of his neck.

After we have the shape of the face, we will go ahead and draw in the face. Drawing in his mouth, nose, eyes and eyebrows.

Now we'll frame his face with his bangs, bringing them down from his forehead.

He wears a protective headband over his forehead, made of armor and wrapping around his head.

Then we'll draw in the back part of his head and the rest of his headband. Also we'll draw in his ear in this step. Bring lines back from the front of his head to show that his hair is being pulled back.

His hair is pulled back into a ponytail, held back with a little metal piece at the base of the ponytail.

Now we can start working on the rest of him. We'll draw in the scarf that he wears overtop of his armor, bringing around the front of him and over his shoulder.

He has two different pauldrons (shoulder armor). The on his right is round and comes down over the shoulder and upper arm. We'll also draw in the lines for the breastplate on that side.

From there we'll go over and do the same on the other side. His left pauldron does not come down his upper arm like the right one does, it sits ontop of the shoulder and is made up of two layers. A decorative line around the edge divides the main pi

We're going to have him holding up his spear so first we'll draw out the shape of the blade, also known as the spear head. It's shaped like a sword and tapers back in at the base where it connects to the shaft of the spear.

We'll draw in the details of the spearhead next, drawing a line going up and then back down through the blade and a ring around the base with three ovals facing us around it.

There is a decorative piece of fur on his spear so we'll draw that in as well with a hand that will be holding the spear. There is a piece of armor that comes down and covers the back of the hand.
