In this first step you will be drawing out the guidelines and shapes to form a good frame for Garfield. Start by drawing a pumpkin shaped circle for his head and then draw facial guidelines on the front including the lining for his sly smile. Now dra

As you can see by the time you are done with this step your Garfield is already taking form. Now what I want you to do next is draw two big oblong shapes for his eyes and the two rounded shapes on the top of his head for his ears. Draw in the shapes

This part is easy because all you will be doing is first detailing his ears by drawing the those straight lines the way they are shown to you. Next draw the lids of his eyes which are again straight lines drawn across the eye with a small dot shaded

Here is the last step to drawing and all you will do is draw out his tabby cat stripes. The stripes start off long and gradually get shorter and this is how they should be drawn out in your sketch. After all his tiger stripes are sketched in erase al

Description: Hi all and welcome back again to another tutorial on "how to draw Garfield step by step". I chose to do a tutorial on Garfield because he is one of my childhood characters that I watched growing up. I know anybody that is reading this right now knows exactly who I am talking about. He is a feline that is a perfect orange color with big droopy looking eyes and a laid back personality. He started off as a daily syndicated comic strip created by no other than Jim Davis. Garfield's life includes his owner Jon Arbuckle and his other household mate Odie the dog. It was the year of 1978 when this over weight tabby cat made his first debut in 41 newspapers around the US. The comic by the time 1979 rolled around, was already in 100 newspapers. The popularity of Garfield was staring to become a craze for readers to enjoy. By the time 1980 rolled in only two years from his first debut, he already released his first book entitled Garfield at Large. You wouldn't think it, but this book scored the #1 spot in The New York Times Best seller list. The success of Garfield was just getting insane and when 1982 came that is when he made his first television special debut. After that is was just icing on the cake because Garfield blew up in a big way. By the time the 90's came around, he already had a cartoon series (which I watched on a regular basis), movie specials, books, saving the world and so on. In 2004 a computer generated animated version of Garfield hit the big screen. He released his first feature film called Garfield the Movie, which I happened to enjoy very much. The movie was funny and on point with his character I think. He still remained a large cat that loved lasagna and tormented Odie. I love Garfield, sometimes I think he is my alter ego because he is so wildly insane and lazy. The second movie Garfield released was called The Tale of Two Kittens and that hit theaters in 2006. It was good as well but I personally liked the first one better. No matter how you look at him he will always remain a sly cat with nothing to prove. In this tutorial I show you how to draw Garfield step by step. The instructions are always easy to read and understand. I bid you all farewell and I will see you again on a journey of more drawings. If you really like Garfield you can visit Jim Davis's site and play all kinds of Garfield games. Have fun and enjoy your drawing day!
