Description: Welcome back to another easy tutorial on DragoArt.com. Today I will show you "how to draw Felix the Cat". Why Felix you ask? Well mainly because someone requested him, I mean you didn’t actually think that I watch the cartoon do you? Now because I am not to fond of this character I had to turn to other resources to gather information about Felix the Cat, so naturally I turned to a couple of people, my grandmother and my mom. My grandmother gave me information on this black and white cat like on how he got started back in 1928 when all he was used for was to adjust the quality of the transmitted picture that was being broadcasted back in those days and how popular he was. In fact Felix the Cat was seen as another “Tom” back in those days having a very mischievous spunky personality. He also gained popularity so quick that he was considered to be one of Americas one and only true animated movie star. As his image as well as his other animated friends became more and more attached with pop culture, the more people wanted to have this feline star displayed on their clothing as well as having plush dolls, jewelry, cards, and toys. My mother gave me the other type of information like how he is still being used today as a fashion icon and how Felix the Cat went on a tour for a traveling musical in Japan with Hello Kitty in 2003. She also let me know that fashion shows display this hip cat on some of their clothing line, as well as how popular he is with actors and performers that we artist are familiar with today. People like Justin Timberlake, and LL Cool J. Felix the Cat had a feature length movie that was released back in the eighties called "Felix the Cat, the Movie". Almost ten years after his first feature film another was released labeled "The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat". I bet your wondering who created Felix right. Well when Felix went to being a cartoon it was a man from New Jersey and he was a cartoonist his name was Otto Messmer. He is the man behind the creation of this humble looking cat. Felix has a very simple and plain image. First off he is black, has big eyes and a big head. My mother said that she use to watch the cartoon as a rerun that followed the Betty Boop series. So in this tutorial I will show you all how to draw Felix the Cat in four very easy steps. The instructions make learning how to draw this black cat very simple and I bet you will have fun as well.
