Step 1.
We will begin with two shapes, one for the head, and another for the body. Connect the two with a neck guide like so.

For the second step you will begin drawing out the head, muzzle, and long ears. When that is done you can proceed to step three.

Draw out the neck, and some of the foal's body like so. Notice how there is a chunk of folded skin between the shoulder and bottom part of the neck.

Step 4.
Now that the shape of the head, neck and some of the body is drawn out, you can begin sketching out the facial features. This should include the eyes, nostrils, and then the detailing to the inner parts of the ear. Don't forget the lashes.

Next up, let's tackle the task of drawing out the front legs and hooves. Foals have slender long legs that seem to have almost no meat on them.

Step 6.
You are already almost done. All you have to do now is draw out the belly, then draw the hind legs thighs first. The hooves should be drawn in pointed or narrow, but it's your preference.

Step 7.
For the last drawing step all you have to do is draw out the stiff looking mane, and the short stubby tail. Add some detailing then you're done. Erase the mistakes that you may have made along the way.

Description:
Well, I got the pug uploaded now I will be submitting a lesson on another cute animal, and this time it was requested. Here is "how to draw a foal", step by step. As you know a foal is a baby horse, and when they are born they almost immediately stand up and start walking. Their legs are long and skinny, their manes are spiked like a zebra, and their tails are stubby bushes. I really love horses and although I have a lot of horse tutorials on the site, I never drew one as it should look. All the other times I would draw a baby horse that looks a lot like a MLP character, and I know that is not how people would like to see a foal when they want to draw one. Foals are probably one of the cutest baby animal species out there which means you will have an awesome time drawing one of your own. I have to get ready to upload more tuts so I hope you stick around to see what they will be. Peace out folks and like always, enjoy!
