Start by drawing a large plus sign like so, and then proceed to step two.

You are definitely going to need a ruler when tackling this lesson. The first thing you need to do is draw a thicker line vertically down the center like so, and then draw the spiked points for each direction. Like the nautical star, you will color i

Draw in the other side of the compass star the very same way you did the first right side. Next, color in the different sides and move to step four.

You will now draw the ring around the compass rose and then draw in a very neat manner the spaces or gaps until you have a pattern like you see here. Clean up the drawing freeing it from mistakes.

Description: I have something a little different for you all today, and believe it or not but the idea came from a popular tattoo design that folks tend to get. I know you have all heard of the nautical star right? Well, the nautical star is also a very popular design that people like getting inked on their skin. This tutorial is going to be on "how to draw a compass", step by step or otherwise known as a compass rose. The compass rose is almost always seen on navigation units like nautical charts, GPS systems or global positioning systems, VHF omnidirectional range systems, and even on NDB’s which is also known as non-directional beacons. There is eight points to the standard compass rose and obviously the four main points is north, south, east, and west. The points that fall between each major spike are north east, south east, south west, and North West. Now that is laid out in a clockwise movement which is the easiest I know how to explain it. I found it pretty odd when I saw that the compass rose is a popular tattoo design that is used in inking sessions. The reason why I know this is because I wanted to make sure that I had all the popular tattoo patterns that are typically chosen in a tattoo parlor. A compass rose came in at number thirty one, and to me that is significant enough. So here is your next lesson on drawing a compass and I hope you like it. I will be back because I still have one more submission coming your way. Peace out people.
