How to Draw a Bison

1

Let us start this first step by making three very different shapes. One for the head which is a small circle, a larger circle shape for the upper body, and then a cone like shape for the back end of the bison.

2

Here you will start drawing out the lower portion of the bison's face which is the jaw and chin. You will need to draw the shaggy beard hanging from the chin, and then draw out the simple lining that forms the nose and forehead. Also add a mouth line

3

Okay, start sketching out the top of the bison's head which should also be shaggy with fur or hair. Notice how it looks like this animal has a bowl cut. When that is done, draw the curled horn, and then move to step four. So far this is pretty simple

4

The only thing you have to do here is draw out the almond shaped eye, and then color it in as well. Next, draw a separation line for the nose tip, and then add some detailing to the shoulder even though there is no shoulder present yet.

5

Now you can start sketching out the chest, front shoulder, and back hump. The lining should be shaggy since this is a very hairy animal. When that is all done, you can move to step six.

6

See how easy it really is to draw a bison. All you have to do now is draw out the back end which consists of the back, butt, and hind leg. Once that is done, you can draw the belly line to finish this step.

8

Now you can finish off this bison by drawing out the rest of the legs, and then draw in the hooves. When that is done, you can start erasing the lines and shapes that you drew in step one.

9

That's it, you are now all done. Now you can color in the bison to really finish it off. I hope you had fun drawing a bison in a very easy way.

Description: I think it's about time that I submit another tutorial on an animal that some races consider to be sacred. If you look in the “Animals” category you will find a tutorial on the buffalo, and it's pretty decent but I can point out some mistakes which made me want to do another version of the beast. So today, I am going to show you "how to draw a bison", step by step. The bison is the exact same animal as the American Buffalo, which means they are the same in appearance. Adult male bison are called bulls, and as with many animal species they are a bit bigger than the female bison. Males grow to be about six and a half feet tall, almost twelve feet long, and they can weigh up to a whopping two thousand and change pounds. Like the buffalo they too have long and shaggy dark coats in the winter, and when summer arrives the coats get a bit lighter in color and in density. Did you know that some bison have broke records by weighing more than two thousand, two hundred pounds? It's true, there have been bison that tip the scales by weighing in around two thousand five hundred pounds. Now that's a big animal. Anyways I like this depiction of the bison or buffalo because it looks more like what these grass grazing beasts should look like. The tutorial on "how to draw a bison" is going to be easy to replicate and simple to follow. I will be back in a bit with more drawing fun so stay tuned in everyone!
