Drawing a Troll Step by Step

Step 1.


Let's make the head and upper body guide shapes like so, then draw in the limb guidelines.

Step 2.


This is going to take a bit of time to get right so, be patient and start drawing the forehead and hook like nose. Add detailing to the face and draw the expressive eye.

Step 3.


We can now draw out the bottom jaw and then draw the bony style lip which helps create that gnarly look to the troll's face. Color in some darkness inside the mouth and when you do that, add the teeth and large canine tooth.

Step 4.


When you begin tackling this step, you will be doing two things, drawing the hair and creating the hunched over body. Trolls have elven like ears so be sure to make those too. The hair should be long and mop like.

Step 5.


Sketch out the first limb which is very masculine. This is the shoulder, arm and three fingered hand. Trolls should have muscular bodies since they are always on the move. Add detailing to the fingers, arm and chest.

Step 6.


Create the left arm the same way you did the right shoulder, hand and arm. Sketch in the detailing to the fingers, then proceed to step seven.

Step 7.


Draw the chest some more, then begin drawing the tattered top. Add those holes and stringy strands.

Step 8.


For the last drawing step, draw the legs and feet, then sketch in the definition on the stomach and legs. Erase the mistakes and all the guides.

Step 9.


That's it, you are all done. Enjoy the task of coloring in your newly drawn troll.

Description: I am super excited to be uploading this awesome tut on a fantasy character that scares us all and even may send us home crying. Today, I thought I would make a brand new concept on a troll. I know I don't have a good amount of lessons like these, so I'm trying to change that by updating the categories with some new and fresh stuff. Here is how to draw a troll, step by step. The inspiration for this troll came to me when I was watching 'Legend' starring Tom Cruise and Tim Curry. I was always so fascinated with the creatures and monsters from that movie, especially the trolls. Jack (Tom Cruise) fights off a troll that was the leader of the pack that tried to get the unicorn horns for the devil himself. Anyways, drawing a troll in this realistic form is going to be super fun and challenging. I will return with some other tuts to enjoy so come back around or stay put.
