Step 1.


Let's begin with just some simple head shapes like you see here. There are five members so you will need five guides. Sketch in the facial guidelines and proceed to step two.

Step 2.


Since the figures in this lesson are more of an animated concept, there should be angles when sketching out the structures for their face shapes. Include some hat lid lines as well as their ears.

Step 3.


Up next, begin drawing their faces. The most distinctive face in this step is that of Ice Cube. Start with their eyebrows, then proceed on to sketching out their eyes. Draw the noses and some of the hats too. Take your time so their signature express   

Step 4.


We will finish their faces by sketching out the lips, rest of the eyes, some of the facial hair on certain rapers like Ice Cube, Eazy-E, and even Dr. Dre. Add detailing to their faces and inside their ears as well.

Step 5.


For your last drawing step draw in their hairstyles, and all of them are wearing ball caps. Eazy-E has sunglasses on so color the lens' in. Write the logos on their hats and then erase all the guides and mistakes.

Step 6.


Here is what your finished drawing looks like when you are done. Now just color in the rappers and call this drawing finished.

Description: I'm super excited to be uploading this lesson today on an iconic rap group that pretty much started it all with gangster rap. They also set the stage for West Coast hip hop, and they even had a name as being the rawest rap/ hip hop group around back in their heyday. Today, I will be showing you how to draw N.W.A. step by step. The group is made up of five rappers all from Compton, California. The band's name is an abbreviation of 'Niggaz Wit Attitudes'. I know that doesn't sound politically correct, but it's just what the full name of the group was. The founder of N.W.A. was none other than Eazy-E. He is seen in the middle with the sunglasses. Other members are Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, MC Ren and DJ Yella. They had a ton of songs that where incredible. Their most popular albums was Straight Outta Compton and Eazy-Duz-It. Obviously I'm gonna say that some of my favorite songs on the Straight Outta Compton album was "Straight Outta Compton" and "Fu@k tha Police". There is a movie coming out that is already getting rave reviews called 'Straight Outta Compton' and that is going to be in theaters August 14 so if you are a fan of N.W.A., I suggest that you make plans to go see the film. I do hope there are fans out there that visit Dragoart who enjoy this group. Eazy-E who passed away in 1995 is considered a legend because he is known as being the Godfather of Gansta Rap. He was also known to be one of the most controversial icons in gansta rap. R.I.P. Eazy-E and for those of you who will be tackling this lesson, have fun.
