How to Draw Realistic Yoshi

The first thing you will draw is the shape or outline for Yoshi's snout and or nose. You will then draw some of the mouth line as well.

Up next, draw in the bottom part of the jaw which is also known as the mandible. Make sure that the contours and angles are drawn in.

We will continue to work on the brows which are raised, and then some of the back part of his head or neck. Draw the shape of Yoshi's eye, then draw in the detailing on the snout and nose.

All you will do here is first draw the connective tissue between the upper and bottom jaw. You will then draw in the tongue, then draw the sharp pointy teeth.

Draw in the small portion of the shoulder followed by Yoshi's arm and clawed hand. Add the detailing for the surface texture of the body. You should have various scale shapes throughout the body.

Now that most of the body is done, we can start with drawing the actual mid-section of the body which is the chest and stomach. Draw the thigh and then add more detailing to the body.

Draw the rest of the legs, then draw in Yoshi's signature boots that are soled and go as high as the dinosaur's mid portion of the lower leg.

And finally, draw the thick but stubby tail, then sketch in all the definition. What ever mistakes you made you can erase them now.

Here is the line art when you are all done. You can go ahead and finish Yoshi off by coloring him in.

Description: There is a lot of realistic things or characters that I can make tutorials out of, but to explore something really cool, I wanted to make a lesson on "how to draw realistic Yoshi", step by step. I wanted to keep Yoshi original so I kept the reddish orange boots on with the body pose the very same way he is seen in the game when chomping on a berry or monster. I had a lot of fun with this tutorial concept, as you can see I made this realistic version of Yoshi look more like a T-Rex then any other dinosaur that walked the earth.
