How to Draw a Snubnose

We will start by drawing the handle or grip. This is a chunky grip so be sure to draw it nice and thick.

We will now draw in the embossed graving on the grip. This is just texture detailing for your snubnose.

Add some speckles, also for texture definition, then draw in a small swirl to the lower left corner.

Here we will start drawing out the actual frame of the snubnose. This is just one whole piece which will be detailed later.

Up next, draw in the barrel and then the sight at the end. You will then draw the hammer.

We will now add the detailing to the frame that we just drew. This is just the cylinder shaped barrel, then draw in the hole for the finger insert where the trigger is which is called the trigger guard.

Just simply draw in your trigger, then add a little detailing to it.

Before we finish things up, you will add the indents to the barrel and then draw in the definition to your snubnose along with the small screws. Erase the mistakes and you are all done.

Here you have it, a simple drawing on a snubnose revolver. Now you can color it in either gunmetal grey/black, or the shiny stainless steel.

Description: I know drawing weapons are a popular subject to get lessons on so because a few people asked me if I could upload a new tut on how to draw a snubnose, I figured why not. The snub nose revolver is typically your traditional .38 special. Back in the day officers used to use this gun and in fact some still do today. The snubnose I drew is silver, but you do see them in carbon steel which is the black color they come in. This gun goes back to the 19th century when Colt was the major manufacturer of the Snubnosed revolver known as the 'Sheriff's Model, Shopkeeper Special, and Banker Special'. Anyways, if you enjoy drawing weapons you will have fun with this tut on the snubnose revolver.
