In this next easy step you will start to draw out the curved shape of the top part of the blade. It almost looks like a wide wave. Next start the drawing process of the handle which includes another slanted vertical line.

As you can see by the time you are done with this step your sword will start looking like a Scimitar. What you will do here is draw out the bottom part of the blade which is curved like the end of a rocking chair. Next finish off the hand guard as sh

This is the last step and it is basically pretty simple. You will just be detailing the blade with a two line s as you can see above. After you are done just erase those guidelines that you drew in step one and you are done.

Today I thought that a tutorial on a weapon would be a good idea because I haven’t submitted anything different from the norm lately. So what I will be teaching you all to do today is draw a Scimitar which happens to be a very historical sword. I think I only submitted one sword so far and that was the Katana. So I decided to draw a sword that I was fond of and that is what you will do today. But first let’s talk a bit on the history of the Scimitar. First off this particular sword is most recognized in films like Aladdin, Pirates of the Caribbean and so forth. The very first Scimitar was called a Shamshir. These particular swords were made so that the blade would almost form a circle right at the top. The Scimitar is a weapon that was developed and used by Persians. Because this sword had such appeal and significant damage when used to strike, it was sought after by many of the Muslim and Indian cultures from Europe and Eurasia. After the Scimitar was adopted by other countries and cultures, the layout started being developed to suit particular needs. For instance, the Scimitars for Arab culture is called a Saif, for the Persians it is called a Shamshir (as I said earlier), the Turkish call there version of the Scimitar a Kilij, the Indians from India have what they call a Talwar which are also referred to as Scimitars, the Moroccans have the Nimcha, and the Afghans have the Pulwar. All the swords just named are usually called or seen as Scimitars. Many big name movies use this type of sword for villains and for the hero. The computer game Prince of Persia uses a Scimitar as his main weapon as well. It is also said that the make of the Scimitar was created to replicate the Chinese Dao or Saber. The Chinese use these swords primarily for chopping and slashing. The Dao looks very much like a Scimitar, so I think it’s safe to say that the resemblance of the two is not out of coincidence. I really liked doing this tutorial because I have always been a fan of the Scimitar mainly because I think they are beautiful, unique looking weapons. I will show you just how easy it is to learn how to draw a Scimitar. The instructions are wicked easy to understand, read and follow.
