Description: This tutorial today is going to be on a fabled being from fantasy literature, the Dwarf. Dwarves originated from German mythology, and have been a part of fantasy fiction and most fantasy role playing games and movies. One of the most common known dwarves is in fact from the role playing video game that I enjoy playing, WarCraft. Dwarves are described differently in many movies, games and fairy tales. Some are described as being ugly and short with magical abilities, and they are said to live in the underground world which is where they build their strengths and abilities. They are also known for creating beautiful, strong weapons such as the famous axe which is the signature weapon for the dwarf, soon after German folklore was out, the English and Dutch had their own versions of dwarves that where a lot different from German folklore. They had magical creatures at their sides such as fairies that used charms, curses and other deceitful tactics on behalf of the dwarf. The general description of a dwarf is that they are anywhere between 3 and 4 feet tall, they have humongous heads, long bushy beards that are sometimes braided, and they at times only dress in armor because they stay prepared for battle at all times. Some of modern day dwarves from fairytales include Rumpelstiltskin, and Snow Whites seven famous dwarves; Grumpy, Sleepy, Doc, Dopey, Happy, Bashful, and Sneezy. Many modern fantasy stories created interesting concepts of dwarves from the original dwarf like how they are excellent miners, and have incredible skill with metallurgy. There are also the dwarves created by J.R.R. Tolkien when he gave them a whole new character in his book “The Hobbit” which is also part of “The Lord of The Rings” volumes, these dwarves where from a place called Middle Earth and where described as being shorter and stockier than Elves and Men. But in my tutorial I used a combination of the dwarves used in WarCraft like the suit of armor and the face of a typical looking dwarf with the long bushy beard, and I also made him a warrior. I like how this drawing came out, I also hope you enjoy learning how to draw a dwarf warrior step by step. You can color his armor any color you want to that is your choice. The instructions are simple enough to make the whole drawing and sketching experience a breeze.
