How to Draw a Centaur

Step 1.


Since the begin you are drawing is half human and half horse, you will be drawing out both animal and human body parts. Start by making the shapes of the head and torso which are both human, and then draw out the bean shape of the horse body guide. N   

Step 2.


Sketch out the shape of the face, and then draw in the bangs until they are pointed pieces.

Step 3.


Continue to work on the centaur's face by sketching in the shapes of her pretty eyes, and then draw in her nose and mouth. When that is done draw the ears which are horse like, and be sure to make the lining for her eyes thick and bold.

Step 4.


Finish drawing out her hair and at this point you can choose to give your centaur long or short locks. I went with short, and as you can see it goes down past her shoulders. You will now need to draw the neck, shoulders, and arms like so and then ske   

Step 5.


Finish drawing out the breasts by making a bra like line on the top as well as some straps. Next, sketch in the length of her hair, and then draw out the other arm and both hands. You will also need to draw out the beginning parts of the horses body    

Step 6.


Now it's time to draw out some of the body starting in the front. Do this by making the front legs and hoof, and then draw in the belly and some of the horses back, and back end.

Step 7.


Draw in the other horse hoof in the front and then completely draw out the back horse legs like you see here. Sketch in some detailing for the muscles, as well as some creases too.

Step 8.


Last step guys, all you have to do is sketch out a nice, long pretty horse tail. Be sure to give this tail lots of waves, and curls like you see here. Erase the lines and shapes that you drew in step one.

Step 9.


Look how pretty and neat your new centaur looks when you are all done. Now you can choose your colors to shade in the creature. I hope you lied how to draw a centaur.

Description: Every once in a while I will look for a really old tutorial that I did back in 2007-2008, and I take it on as a project to either make a new lesson, or redo the drawing to make it better. My search brought me to my Mythology section on Dragoart and the first category I chose was the Centaurs. I looked and found two lessons on "how to draw a centaur", step by step but the only problem with both of them was, they where so wrongly drawn, and horribly colored. To me the old drawing are awful, but to some of you, they are still good. It's all based on preference I guess. Anyways, I decided to make a new lesson on drawing a centaur because I know that this mythical species is probably a lot more popular then some other stuff I have under the myth section. Beside, isn't there a bunch of centaurs in the new Narnia movie? I'm still a little disappointed with the way that this centaur came out because I feel some of the horse body could have been drawn better. My favorite parts to the sketch is the upper body and head, as well as the back end and tail of the half animal, half horse creature. You can also choose to make a male or child centaur if you wish, it all depends on what you like. I guess that just about does it for now, I will let you get busy with learning "how to draw a centaur" and please let me know what you think of the finished work.
