How to Draw Gotye

Step 1.


Begin with a simple circle for the face guide, then sketch in the facial guidelines.

Step 2.


Sketch out the actual structure of Gotye's face, then begin framing his face with his curly locks which are going to be parted.

Step 3.


Using the facial guidelines, draw out the shapes of his eyes, then draw the nose, mouth, and lips. Add some shading between his lips too.

Step 4.


Continue to work on the eyes by draw out the eyebrows as well as coloring them in so they are bold and dark. Sketch in the top lid line, then draw in the actual eyeballs as well as the pupils and iris'. Add definition to his nose, then sketch in the    

Step 5.


Here is a real simple way to draw curls. Start with an S like lining shape, then draw another S without some of the bottom half. Make sure that there is a pointed tip then sketch in some of the hair strand for detailing. Draw more wavy curl lines on    

Step 6.


Repeat the same process of drawing out his hair using what you learned in step five. Gotye has some curly locks so make sure that they are nice and squiggly. Sketch out the shape of his neck, then draw in the definition on the neck like you see here.

Step 7.


Draw out the other side of his head of hair in the exact same manner you did the left. Make sure to take your time as you draw each and every curl. You can erase the facial guidelines as well as your mistakes when you're finished.

Step 8.


Here is Gotye when you're all done. Now you can choose to color in your drawing, or you can leave him looking like a sketch.

This tutorial will be showing you "how to draw Gotye", step by step. His real name is Wouter De Backer, and he was born May 21, 1980. This would make the singer songwriter thirty two years old. De Backer was born in Belgium but when he was two years old he and his family moved to Australia. He has always showed a passion for music as well as musical instruments. At a young age he started playing a bunch of different things, but it was the piano and drums that he took a liking to the most. At one point and time Wouter was even in a band during his high school years called Downstares. Unfortunately when he and his friends graduated, the band dismembered, and Wouter was left without any way to release his musical talents. Because of this the family moved once again, and that was the started of Gotye. Nowadays he is known for the guy that sings that song about breaking up with his girlfriend and then being used by her in the end. Well, I'm sorry to break it to your Wouter or Walter, that is how life is. Women can be brutal and so can men. I liked making this tutorial because he was an interesting face to draw. If you like Gotye's music you should enjoy drawing Goyte as well.
