How to Draw a Scythe
1
This is a very simple first step. All you have to do is draw a long straight vertical line that is off to the left side and then draw a stubby horizontal line for the blade.
2
In this next step you will now draw another vertical line to thicken the wooden staff and then cap off the rod like shape with the metal from the curved blade as shown. After you do this you can move onto the next step.
3
This is your last drawing step and all you will do here is finish drawing out the curved blade from beneath. At this point you can alter the length or thickness of the blade.

Description: Well today is another day for me to put up more tutorials for you all. This time I will be submitting another weapon. The weapon that you will be learning how to draw is a scythe. These weapons are usually associated with the grim reaper. A scythe is a weapon / hand tool for mowing grass or reaping crops back in the old days. This tool was later replaced by horse pulled plowing devices and even in much later years, tractors. The scythe is a long wooden handled tool that can be somewhere between five to six feet long. The long wooden staff (which is called a snath) on most scythes have two gripping handles one on the bottom of the staff and one somewhere in the middle. At the top is a metal blade that is attached perpendicular to the snath. The curved blade can run anywhere between two to three feet in length. An interesting fact about the scythe is that the blade is always on the left side of the snath when it is being used. When we think of a scythe it is usually straight with a slightly curved blade and for the most part we are right. But in reality this farming tool will usually have an āSā shaped staff and they are not as long as we believe. This tool is also used as a weapon; in fact it was the Polish peasants that used a war scythe in the eighteenth century. This weapon looked more like a long wooden staff with an erect blade that was slightly curved. Like I mentioned in the beginning, the scythe is often seen in the hands of beings from myth such as the grim reaper and the four horsemen. In the movie Interview with the Vampire Louie is seen at the end with a scythe as he kills one of the vampires and punctures holes in gasoline filled barrels. I think that the scythe is a very unique and versatile item, tool and weapon. This tutorial will show you how to draw a scythe step by step. The instructions help make the drawing process wicked easy. I will be back with more so stick around.
