Description: Colors and love is what really made things intense back in the sixties and seventies. The tie-dyed colors of posters, shirts, bandanna's, pants and so forth was the in thing back then. Another in thing was a hand gesture that was used by activist and by people who believed in “make love not war”. I wanted to do a tutorial on something that really mattered to people then and to more and more people now. I am going to teach you "how to draw a peace sign", step by step. The peace symbol wasn’t always a symbol used by the “Baby Boomer” generation. Instead it was first designed by a fellow named Gerald Holtom back in 1958. He designed and made the symbol for the British nuclear disarmament movement march that took place in Trafalgar Square London and ended at the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment at Aldermaston in England. After the use of the original design, it was later used by activist during the sixties anti-war movement. Over the years the peace symbol became a world wide phenomenon. During the late sixties thousands of buttons were made with the peace symbol covered in a rainbow like design. People that are called “hippies” were the ones to be implicated as terrorist back then because groups upon groups of people wanted to stop the war that was going on in Vietnam. Not only did the colorful image of the peace symbol stand for something, songs were being written by various artists that lyrically protested against the war. Bands like; Credence Clearwater, Janice Joplin, Jim Hendrix, Bob Dylan, John Lennon and many more. I myself oppose of wars that don’t relate to my freedom. I believe that all these soldiers that are fighting in these wars are not fighting for any kind of threat from their own personal freedom being jeopardized. I was very happy to draw out this important symbol because it represents that age old statement that we as people need to stop the killing and start loving by keeping the peace. There is no reason why thing can’t be worked out in a civil manner that will not only protect our future, but the future of our countries as well. I hope you guys like this lesson on "how to draw a peace sign", step by step. Keep up the good work and remember to stay creative, and try to always live life with peace in your heart.
