How to Draw a Foo Dog, Foo Dog Statue

Start out by picking your pencils. I used a 3H pencil for sketching/light shading, H pencil for general shading, and a 4B pencil for dark shading.

Your sketch may end up looking something like this. Make sure to sketch as lightly as possible. Erase any unneeded guidelines.

Continue moving down. Don't overdo the strength of the lines. Make sure that they are light enough to erase.

Now sketch in the pedestal details. Use a ruler if you aren't confident enough to sketch your lines.

Roughly shade in the background using a 4B pencil. Then blend in your shading with a paper towel or blending stump.

Start adding final layer of shading. Start by roughly and lightly shading in the area with a 4B pencil. Then use H and 3H pencils to start shading and adding details. Use a 3H pencil for lighter shading and the H for darker shading/lines. Use the 4B

Continue moving downs the body with your shading. Try to give your shading a rough/weathered look. DO NOT use a blending stump to smooth your shading. Do your best to just use natural shading to create unique/realistic texture.

Define the baby foo dog then shade in the rest of the body. Use a 4B pencil for the dark shadows.

Start work on the pedestal. Work in the same manner by roughly shading with the 4B then using an H pencil for detailed shading. The key to shading the pedestal is knowing how to "fake" detail. use pencil textures to create the illusion of patterns an
