Description: The leaning tower of Pisa is a cathedral with a Baptistery, Campanile and Campo Santo is one of the most famous architectural structures in the world found in Italy’s province of Pisa a city inside Tuscany. Construction on this building started taking place in 1173 to 1373. The building sits along side the Cathedral and was a project that took two centuries to complete. The reason for the tower leaning to one side was thought to be from the way the building was constructed from the beginning stages, and over time more studies show that is simply not the case. Obviously the tower was supposed to be a vertical design but the more construction took place it started to incline. Now, while the work was being done on the tower, certain devices where introduced to help stop the structure from leaning to one side. Over time columns and other damaged parts of the building where replaced many of times. As we speak, the sub-soil of the tower is being modified to help add more support to the leaning structure so it will withstand through out time. It is a cylinder shaped structure of detailed masonry surrounded by arcades of arches and columns sitting upon a base mounted above ground with a bell tower on top. Inside the cathedral it is hollow and contains a spiral staircase with 293 steps, once you reach the top step you would be in the sixth arcade. At this point you are in a vault that allows light to shine through and has access to the bell tower above. The leaning tower of Pisa is truly a work of art, and learning how to draw this master piece would think to be challenging. One more odd thing about the tower is, no one knows who the architect was, this eyebrow raising question still remains a mystery not only to researchers, but to the people of Italy as well.
