How To Draw Nana Osaki

Step 1.


First draw a circle for her head, then draw the guidelines for her body. You will then you draw another big circle for her hand holding the microphone.

Step 2.


Now draw few short guidelines to mark her hair, face, outfit and accessories.

Step 3.


Draw a rough outline of her entire body based on the marks you’ve did in step two.

Step 4.


You will now clean up the rough outlines you’ve did in step three. Then give it few details, such as her earrings and her risk bands, since they have really simple shapes.You will also draw the safety pins on her shirt so you will have a good idea    

Step 5.


Now you will draw her face, Nana does not have a “regular” manga face. She has a more realistic shaped eyes a big sexy lips. But make sure you give her those dramatic long eyelashes to give her that wild look.. Then draw the hair lines and the de   

Step 6.


Last but now least, add on the fold lines on her outfit, to make it look more three dimensional.

Step 7.


And we did it! Now you have a pretty punk rock princess- Nana. All you have to do is color her and that will be it. I’ll see you guys next time.

Description: Hello everyone, good to see you all again. Today I am going to do a tutorial of Nana Osaki from NANA －ナナ－. I don’t know how many of you know the comic NANA, but it is definitely one of the most popular Manga for girls in Asia in the past 4 years. They even made it into a movie, and also formed a real band Blast based on the punk rock band in the comic. NANA is about two girls with same name – Nana, but two completely different personality. The Nana I am drawing today is the lead singer of the punk rock band Blast. If you’ve seen the comic, you probably know that her boyfriend Honjo Ren - the guitar player of the pop band Trapnest , his appearance was definitely based on Sid Vicious – bass player of legendary punk band in the 70s “The Sex Pistols”. I guess the comic made a great success because it came out the same time when punk rock stared to become popular in Asia. Funny how the sound track from the movie and the songs from the real live band Blast does not sound anything like punk rock. But that's just my opinion, no offence to those who like the band or the movie. If you have not read NANA yet, you are really missing out! Go check it out and see the most popular manga in Asia!
