How to Draw Motoko Kusanagi, Ghost In Shell

Step 1.


Here you will sketch out the shape of the face which should be drawn to look like a seed of some sorts. Sketch in the facial guidelines, then move along to step two.

Step 2.


Next, draw the actual structure of the feminine looking face, then draw out the sharp pointed bangs.

Step 3.


The next thing we will do is draw out the thinly shaped eyes like so, and color in the pupils. Draw the long thin eyebrows with an expressive look before you draw the nose and mouth. Her mouth is supposed to look puckered a bit.

Step 4.


Now that the face is all set, we can start working on the Bon Jovi style hairdo. Motoko has a very "big" hairstyle. Draw out the puffy bowl shaped top like so, then draw in the rest of the hair which is the length. The length of the hair will rest on   

Step 5.


Sketch out her neck, then her low cut collar line which will also expose her breast cleavage. Draw in the cleavage then add detail and definition to her neck and collar bones.

Step 6.


Lastly, finish her off by drawing the jacket. The collar is very stiff and slightly folded to crop down a bit. Draw the seam lines as well as the trimming. When that is done you can start erasing the mistakes.

Step 7.


Here is what she looks like when all is complete. Now you can have fun bringing her to life with a splash of color.

Description: So I have another anime lesson for you guys on a character from a popular series called Ghost in the Shell. Today I will be showing you "how to draw Motoko Kusanagi", step by step. She is actually called Major Motoko, and she is the main protagonist of the anime and manga. At first I didn't know if this character was a girl or boy. After some reading I found out that the character is in fact a female, but she's just not any female, she's actually a cyborg that works as a squad leader of Section 9's Public Security. There's actually a lot I can say about her personality and character design, but I'm afraid it is too vulgar or inappropriate. I can tell you that she has a bit of a sexy personality which makes her attractive to watch on screen and read in the manga. If you know the series than you obviously know what I'm talking about. Instead of going on about her, how about we learn the techniques to drawing Motoko instead. I shall return with more drawing fun so stay put, and keep those pencils clutched in your hand.
