How to Draw Hades

Hades is drawn sitting in his thrown. Start this sketch by drawing the shape of his head, and then add the facial guidelines. Once that is done you can then draw out the shape his torso, and shawl like coverings. Add the limb guidelines as well befor

To shape out the face, you will lightly sketch out the lower jaw, neck, and then the front bangs of his hair. Once that is complete you can sketch in the shoulder clutch.

Finish drawing Hades hair, and then draw the crown that he wears above his brow. Next sketch in the eyes, nose, and mouth and then add some definition to the face neck, and chest. Drawing the arms is simple too because his hands are folded on top of

Finish sketching out the arms, and then draw the the arm bands that are the length of Hades forearms. Once you have completed that feat, you can continue to sketch out more of his robe and be sure to add some fold and crease lines for definition and

Remember when I said that Hades is sitting in his throne? Well, that is what you will draw first. After that you can finish sketching out the robe, and then draw out a majority of his legs and some of his feet.

This is your last drawing step. Add detail and definition to his clothes, and then finish sketching out Hades legs and feet. Erase all the guidelines and shapes that you drew in step one to clean up the drawing and prepare it for color.

Description: Greek Gods are what you call some of the more popular mythological beings from Greek folklore. The strange thing is, Greek culture believed in these Gods so strongly, that you couldn't or cant tell them any different. I wanted to do a sketch on a God from myth, and he is actually the lord of the underworld. Of course I'm talking about Hades, and that is who you will be learning how to draw. Supposedly, Hades is the brother of Zeus, and Poseidon and all three shared the same father who was, or is Cronus. He also had three sisters as well, Demeter, Hestia, and Hera. Once Zeus persuaded his father to discharge the younger siblings, they all challenged the elder gods to take over their power. This was called the “divine war". Only Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon received weapons to fight with. All three weapons symbolized their powers, and positions of the types of Gods they were. Zeus got the thunderbolt, Poseidon was given the trident, and Hades of course was given the Helm of Darkness. It was the treachery of Hades that the war lasted for ten years. This was because he destroyed all the weapons, and the challenging gods won the battle. This god is absolutely devastating. He welcomes the souls that are sentenced to eternal death. In all Hades was really not evil at all, he maintained a sense of balance more or less, and had a very calm, passive personality and attitude. Almost a perfect description of Hades is in the Disney animated picture, “Hercules”. James Woods is the voice actor of Hades and he has a few hench men that do all his spying and trickery. When I was younger Hercules used to be one of my favorite movies, and to be honest I still love it today. I drew the lord of the underworld to look grim, calm, and suspiciously inviting.
