Before you start shading in your portrait, you will need to sketch out his shirt or shoulders. Add some definition to his neck, and then the first shading you do is for his hair. He has a short style cut with a cut design on the side of his head. When you sketch out his hair, use small close nit lines to create the texture of a fade. You will also start shading more around his eyes, forehead, on the tip of his nose, around his mouth and top lip, and then on his chin, neck, behind the ear. There is a lot of cross hatch shading in this step.
