How to Draw a Butterfly

Step 1.


In this first step you will be drawing out the basic frame of a butterfly. First start by drawing four horizontal lines for the top, upper mid section, middle, and bottom. Next draw two vertical lines to help you keep the sides of the lower wings uni   

Step 2.


Now this step should be very short and simple to accomplish. All you have to do is outline the frame of the wings to give them a nice ripple look to give the illusion of realism. Now what you do after you sketch that out is lightly sketch the inside    

Step 3.


Now in this step you will spend the most time sketching and drawing out the entire pattern of the marks over the wings. This will take you several minutes to complete. How you want to start this step is by drawing the bigger patterns first then draw    

Step 4.


Here is the final step, which is the finished sketch. All that is left to do is use your imagination and color the monarch butterfly in. After all you took the time to draw it out now pleasure yourself by coloring him in. See you next time fellow art

Description: The Monarch Butterfly is probably one of the prettiest of all butterflies in North America. The colors of this beautiful insect flourish throughout its wings with grace. But don’t let the beauty of this butterfly fool you, they are in fact a poisonous insect, as with many other common butterflies. When this particular butterfly is in its larval stage, they eat from the poisonous milkweed, and then they lay their eggs on the milkweed plant as well. The Monarch has an average wing span of 4 7/8 inches, so that means that not only are the wings scaly, but their large as well. They also have six legs that are jointed together, a total of three body parts called the head which is at the top, the thorax which is the middle part of the body, and the abdomen which is of course the end part of the butterfly, they also have a set of antennas, big bold looking eyes, and of course an exoskeleton. Now, an interesting thing to learn about the thorax of the monarch is, inside of this mid-section holds the muscles that actually make the wings and legs move. Cool huh. When the monarch butterfly is in its caterpillar stage, some might say that it looks incredibly ugly, but I think that it has pretty hues of green, yellow, and black. A female monarch and a male monarch can easily be distinguished by two simple black dots on the lower part of the wing. The female lacks these marks, while it is the male that has the two black dots that give him added beauty. But to make up for that flaw, the female has bold looking veins throughout her wings that give her a more noticeable look. If you want to attract monarch butterflies to your garden or yard, all you have to do is plant milkweed plants scattered throughout your landscape. The monarch butterfly also goes through four growing stages before becoming the beautiful insect that it is. One last thing I would like to add about the monarch is that, this is one of the few butterflies that actually have a bold personality around humans. They will literally fly up to you around your face and body, which is kinda neat I think.
