How to Draw Howl and Sophie

Step 1.


Let's start out with drawing the two head shapes or guides and then draw the shoulder guidelines and the neck guidelines. The two heads should touch.

Step 2.


Let's start with drawing Howl. We will just be drawing a profile of his face so start with the nose lining and then the mouth, chin and jaw line.

Step 3.


Now draw in Sophie's lower face shape. When you do this be sure to add a curl from her hair and that the two faces connect.

Step 4.


Here we will begin drawing Howls' head shape, but it also happens to be his hair too. The long strands of hair should be straight and chunk style.

Step 5.


Sophie wears a hat so draw in her cute wicker style hat and be sure to add a band around the base of the hat along with a flower.

Step 6.


All you have to do here is sketch in Sophie's hair which is short and straight.

Step 7.


Now we can proceed on to their faces. Start with Howl. Draw Howl's eyebrow, closed eye and then his ear. When he is done you can draw in Sophie's closed eye as well.

Step 8.


Start with drawing his neck line. Get the clothing done for Howl's jacket and shirt that is under his coat. You will need to draw layers of clothing so be sure that the jacket collar is a bit soft looking instead of stiff.

Step 9.


Now begin with drawing Sophie's elegant neck shape followed by her cute braid, and collar from her dress. You will also need to draw in her shoulder and some of the upper body that is visible. When you are done just erase the mistakes.

Step 10.


Here are the two kissing and loving each other. You can color in Sophie and Howl to bring them to life. I hope you had fun folks, I know Howls Moving Castle is a fav for a lot of you.

Well, here is a tutorial that I think a lot of you will love because I really loved making it since these are two characters from one of my favorite Studio Ghibli films.
