Description: Today at DragoArt we will be learning how to draw a Rock Wyrm. These creatures are relatively controlling like the Desert Wyrm, unlike these rock cravers Desert Wyrms live out in the desert. Now, Rock Wyrms didn’t get their name for no reason, they are called that because they live and thrive in areas that are heavily covered by rocks and other rocky matter, this is why they live in mountains, canyons, wastelands, and rocky mounds. The Rock Wyrm is relatively smaller than the Desert Wyrm as well, only reaching 9 feet tall and 26 feet long. The tails on one of these creatures are nice and stiff. This gives them balance for when they climb along side of their mountainous homes. I bet your thinking that this creature is hideous and lazy looking. This is true. These beasts can sleep for a straight mouth without waking up once to use the bathroom or eat any food. As you can see in the drawing, beneath the creature’s neck, there is a large baggy looking pouch. This pouch is used for the sole purpose to breath stone breath. This makes our wyrm very unique and interesting. All wyrms have diverse breath weapons that they use to protect themselves from other predators and threats. A breath weapon is different for every specie of wyrm. An element for each specie is chosen by their surroundings and by their body structure. The Rock Wyrms stone breath instantly freezing their victims to stone, while the victim is in its paralyzed state, the body begins to turn to stone from the outside in. This process takes a total of three hours before the Rock Wyrm can start to devour its prey. As you can tell by now these animals only feed on solid rock these creatures are truly amazing and have a lot of history to them. The sketch I did for this tutorial took me a total of 6 hours on paper. I really wanted to give the beast a sense of realism and also make his image look believable. The sketch was completed last mouth but I wanted to make sure that I had a series to put up with it. So what you will be seeing is the first sketch out of three fantasy creatures created by yours truly. I hope you find my creation of this peculiar looking animal fascinating.
