Start this first step on the meerkat by drawing a round circle for the head and then add the facial guidelines. You will then draw the mild shape of the muzzle and then add a neck line. Attach the line to the torso shape and then draw the waist lines

2

You will now start sketching out the shape of the head, muzzle and or nose, and then sketch out the shape of the neck. Next draw the shape of the ears and then detail the insides of them. You will also draw the tip of the nose and then a mouth line a

Use the facial guidelines you drew in step one to draw in the eyes and pupils which also need to be colored in. Next draw the markings on the back of the neck and then sketch out the chest shape which is a bit furry and then draw out the arms and han

4

Finish the hand to the left hand side and then draw more of the waist as you see here. Once that is done you will draw the markings on the back of the meerkat as you see here. You are already almost done.

5

All you have to do here is draw the shapes of the meerkat's legs and long feet. Draw the marking line on the feet to separate the two colors and then add toe lines. Draw some of the tail as you see here and move to the last drawing step.

6

Welcome to the last drawing step. All you have to do now is finish drawing the shape or the meerkat's tail and then start erasing all the guidelines and shapes that you drew in step one.

7

When you are done your should end up with an animal that looks like the one you see here. Color it in and you have just finished this lesson on "how to draw a meerkat step by step".

Description: Another animal that I thought would be a very popular tutorial is a rodent like species that lives in dirt burrows and holes. These creatures live on the African plains and they like to live together in large communities. What animal am I talking about you ask? Well you will be given a lesson on “how to draw a meerkat step by step”. The meerkat is the famous animated character that stared in “The Lion King” named Timon. His best friend was a warthog named Pumba. These critters are the size of a squirrel and they are best recognized by folks by the way they stand upright almost perfectly. When they stand on their hind legs they are looking beyond the plains before they make any kind of move to venture out. What is really neat about the meerkat is that when they have babies, the mothers can actually nurse their young while standing. Pretty cool huh? This is how it works, like ants the meerkat work together in numbers while two or three are left behind to keep a lookout for danger. Predators that feed on meerkats are animals like hawks, and eagles. These birds can swoop down and snatch a meerkat with their sharp claws with no problem at all. If they see immediate danger, the scouts will let out a sharp sounding shrill that will tell the others to duck and take cover. The diet of these animals consist of insects, snakes, lizards, birds, fruit, and other small game. Sometimes meerkat will be hunted by humans and trained to catch rats, mice, and other small rodents. These animals are very smart and they are excellent hunters. A mother meerkat will give birth to only two to four babies and even the father helps with the upbringing. He teaches the young how to play, and he also teaches them how to detect danger. The one thing that will send these critters running toward the closest burrow is birds and even planes. They only weigh about two pounds, and they get to be around ten inches or so in length. I had fun drawing out this African plains animal and I know you guys will too. I will leave you now to this lesson on “how to draw a meerkat step by step”. When you are done you will see why they are so very popular. I will be back soon with more drawing fun. Peace out and happy drawing gang!
