How to Draw a Marlin

You are drawing a fish from the front view which means this should be a bit easier to draw. Start with an egg shape and then draw the long spear line for the upper jaw. Next draw a cashew shape for the body outline.

Next start sketching out the shape of the speared upper jaw, and then slowly continue to draw the forehead, and back lining of the fish's body. Lastly, draw the flipper fin to the left.

You will focus primarily on the front face of the fish, starting with the completion of the mouth which consists of the lower jaw, and inner mouth detailing. Draw a small circle for the eye, and then draw lining for the gills, and neck of the fish. L

Color in a pupil for the one eye, and then add some detailing around the mouth as shown. You will then draw the Mohawk like dorsal fin and then add the detailing lines with the fins make-up. When that is done draw the pectoral fin, and again add the

Continue to sketch out more of the body shape, and then draw in more fins as well as detailing them as seen here in this step.

Lastly, draw the large tail fin and then add some detailing to the body to show it's curved arch. Erase all the guidelines and shapes that you drew in step one, and then move to see what you have in the end.

Description: They grow to be fourteen feet long, and can weigh as heavy as two thousand pounds. Something that big can only be an animal like an elephant or baby whale right? Wrong, I'm talking about the blue marlin which is another one of the largest living fish in the ocean. This is going to be my third fish installment, and perhaps my favorite for the day. I will give you a detailed lesson that will teach you "how to draw a marlin", step by step. Not to be confused with the gun manufacturer “Marlin”, a company that make one awesome .22 riffle, this fish lives in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans, and looks a lot like the swordfish because of it's spear shaped upper jaw. Marlin's like feeding on tuna, mackerel and on occasion, squid. This fish specie spends almost all of it's time out at sea far away from human life. They can be found in warm tropical waters and will almost always follow warm currents for thousands of miles with their schools. If you where to ask a fishermen what type of fish gives one of the best fights, they are sure to answer you with a simple two word reply, the marlin. If you are lucky enough to hook one of these mean machines, you better be strapped, and fully buckled in a fisherman seat. Sports fishermen almost get overjoyed when they nail a marlin because they are almost uncontrollable to reel in and catch. If there was a fish that is considered to be a trophy catch, it would be the marlin. They have a cobalt-blue body with a silvery-white underbelly. The blue marlin is definitely a well recognized fish of the sea, and learning "how to draw a marlin" is equally exciting. I drew the fish in an action pose because that is how you get a glimpse of this animal before you reel them in on a boat, (if your lucky to).
