This is my rendition of Clara Bart: teacher, humanitarian and founder of the american red cross. I drew this with a handful of charcoal pencils on the back of this cool, thick manilla ppr we had at work. It started getting bigger, so if you notice, there are seam lines where I had to tape extra pieces of paper together to finish it. Lol TIP: never be afraid to use the lightest-lights and darkest-darks as well as negative space to create realism. To achieve that, let the shadows "draw" the lines instead of just outlining everything. That tends to give everything a "cartoonish" look.
